Snapmaker U1 4-Toolhead Multi-Color 3D Printer

The Snapmaker U1 is a consumer-grade toolchanger 3D printer designed for efficient multi-color and multi-material printing. Its SnapSwap™ 4-toolhead system switches tools in just 5 seconds, helping reduce purge waste while significantly improving printing efficiency.

With speeds up to 500 mm/s, 20,000 mm/s² acceleration, smart calibration, automatic filament loading, and backup mode, the U1 delivers fast and consistent results with minimal manual setup. The 270 × 270 × 270 mm build volume supports both large models and batch production, while the optional top cover expands compatibility with high-temperature engineering materials.

FAQs

How does the SnapSwap™ tool-changing system reduce printing time and filament waste?

The Snapmaker U1 uses four independent toolheads, with each filament loaded into its own hotend. During multi-color or multi-material printing, the printer directly swaps toolheads in approximately 5 seconds instead of repeatedly unloading, loading, and purging filament. This design can reduce purge waste by up to 80%, depending on the model and print settings.

What filament materials are compatible with the Snapmaker U1?

Without the optional Top Cover, the U1 supports PLA, PETG, TPU, PVA, and PCTG. With the Top Cover installed, it can also print PET, ABS, ASA, PA, and PC. Carbon-fiber- or glass-fiber-reinforced materials require both the Top Cover and a compatible hardened steel nozzle.

Can I use third-party filament with the Snapmaker U1?

Yes. The U1 supports compatible third-party 1.75 mm filament that meets general quality requirements. However, automatic RFID material recognition is only available with supported Snapmaker official filament.

What filament spool sizes are supported?

The spool holder supports filament spools with an inner diameter of 52–60 mm, a maximum width of 70 mm, and a maximum weight of 1 kg per spool. Using spools outside these dimensions may affect filament feeding.

What software and connection methods does the Snapmaker U1 support?

Snapmaker Orca is the recommended slicer and includes optimized machine and material profiles for the U1. OrcaSlicer is also supported. Print files can be transferred through 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi or a USB flash drive, while the Snapmaker App supports remote print management and monitoring.
